Pipe replacement closing State Road 11

The Indiana Department of Transportation will replace a small drainage structure in early August under State Road 11 at Dudleytown — just north of State Road 250 in Jackson County — requiring a weekend closure.

Temple and Temple Construction, the state’s contractor for this $137,008 small structure project, plans to be onsite Monday for preliminary work. The weekend beginning Aug. 6, the Salem contractor will remove the existing pipe and replace it with a larger arched pipe measuring 73-inches-by-55-inches extending 36 feet in length.

State Road 11 will be closed at the worksite from 6 p.m. Aug. 5 until 6 a.m. Aug. 9. A signed detour will route motorists around the closure via State Road 250, Interstate 65 and U.S. 50.

Once the new culvert pipe is in place, State Road 11 will be restricted to a single lane while crews lay asphalt pavement and place riprap on embankments. All work will be completed by Aug. 31.
