Doreen C. Deputy, 93, of Seymour passed away at 1:05 a.m. Thursday, July 7, 2016, at Lutheran Community Home, surrounded by family.

Born Oct. 30, 1922, in Pontiac, Illinois, she was the daughter of Roxie Cullen LeMessurier and L. Burdell Cullen, both of whom preceded her in death.

Doreen grew up and attended high school in Pontiac, Illinois. She later attended Butler University, where she met James Fredrick Deputy, and they were married in 1942. He preceded her in death in 1999.

Doreen taught first grade in Crothersville from 1961 to 1964 then worked as the principal’s secretary at the junior high school in Seymour for several years. She was a member of Gamma Phi chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa sorority, Daughters of the American Colonists and volunteered with the Schneck Hospital Guild. She also was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Seymour.

Survivors include her children, James (Patti) Deputy of Reno, Nevada, Carol Deputy Russo of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Dan (Kristin) Deputy of Locust Grove, Virginia; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Sandy Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service.
