School conducts elementary graduation

The 2016 graduation exercise recently was conducted for 38 kindergarten students attending Zion Lutheran School in Seymour.

This event, conducted in the gymnasium at Immanuel Lutheran School in Seymour, began with a processional by the students and staff to the music of “Lift High the Cross.”

Principal Roy Stuckwisch welcomed those in attendance, and Pastor Adrian Krebs of Lord of Life Lutheran Church in North Vernon delivered the graduation message to the graduates.

With a patriotic theme for the graduation exercise, the graduating class sang songs of praise and patriotism, including “For God So Loved the World,” “I Pledge Allegiance,” “You’re a Grand Old Flag,” “This Land is Your Land,” “Glory, Glory, Lord Jesus,” “All You Works of God, Bless the Lord” and “God Bless America.”

They also led those in attendance in the Christian Pledge and the Pledge of Allegiance.

Certificates were then presented to the graduates. Those helping with the distribution of diplomas were Stuckwisch, Krebs, Janeen Keinath, Nancy Lipka and Angie Kerkhof.

After Stuckwisch presented the graduating Class of 2016, the ceremony ended with the graduates singing the “Graduation Song” and “Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow.” The recessional hymn “Go My Children” was song by all of those in attendance.

Graduates were Chloe Abbot, Eric Akin, Marissa Baker, Jarrett Barker, Braxton Bode, Daniel Bode, Jane Browning, Hannah Burns, Emma Doriot, Elizabeth Downey, Dane Gillaspy, Abigail Gillis, Autumn Hanners, Anslee Hawkins, Gus Henry, Max Hoene, Liv Holle, Everett Jackson, Samantha Kamman, Brody Keith, Hannah Krebs, Lucille Lemon, Emma Mellencamp, Nathan Negrete, Sam Parisi, Reed Roeder, Lydia Rudzinski, Ruthie Rudzinski, Brinley Schepman, Cash Stein, Kinsley Storey, Lucas Storey, Mallory Thompson, Bella Wehmiller, Lincoln Wessel, Emmalynn Whipker, Claire Wichman and Mason Williams.

The guests were invited to attend a reception following the exercises in honor of the graduates. The Zion Lutheran Church board of parish fellowship assisted with the reception.

Others helping with the program included Sara Lemon at the piano, Jennifer Alberring, Malinda Bicknell, Barbara Bruce, Stephanie Hughel, Maggie Schneider, Ruth Southerland and several graduate mothers who did the decorations for the event, including Shane Bode, Michelle Downey, Leah Gillaspy, Amanda Hoene, Amanda Negrete, Kari Storey and Lori Travis.

Zion Lutheran School is an early childhood school setting with Pre-School 2, Pre-School 3, Pre-School 4, Pre-K 4-year-old and full-day kindergarten classes in its classroom offerings.

Extend Care (day care) services also are available for children, ages 2 through kindergarten. The school also is an approved Jackson County On My Way Pre-K provider school by the state and is accredited by the National Lutheran School Accreditation.
