Investigators with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department recently forwarded the results of an investigation into a fatal crash on Oct. 18, 2015, near Brownstown to the prosecutor’s office, police report.

The investigation includes new information police received in March about the wreck that left Aaron M. Greathouse, 17, of Seymour dead at the scene, according to a news release from Detective Bob Lucas.

Greathouse died when the 1987 Nissan he was driving east in the 2100 block of East County Road 25N was involved in a wreck with a 2004 Nissan driven by Ian Cartmel, who was 21 at the time.

Cartmel and his younger brother, Caleb Cartmel, were both flown to IU Health in Indianapolis. Greathouse was reportedly on his way to visit a girlfriend while the Cartmels were in the area to visit relatives, police said at the time.

Lucas, a crime scene technician, said the prosecutor’s office will evaluate the facts of the case and decide if any criminal charges will be filed.
