The annual Take a Kid Fishing event will be from 9 a.m. to noon June 4 at Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge, 12985 U.S. 50 East, Seymour.

Activities for youngsters include fishing contests, fishing crafts and games, cane pole making and fishing lessons with all equipment and bait provided. Prizes will be awarded to youngsters catching the biggest fish during the event. No fishing license is required.

There also will be a free hot dog lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Muscatatuck Wildlife Society, the nonprofit refuge friends group, manages the day’s program, and refuge volunteers work the contests.

The refuge is located off U.S. 50 three miles east of Interstate 65 at Seymour.
