The Bartholomew County Council for Youth Development will conduct a free forum about human trafficking and its victims.

The forum will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 9 in the Terrace Room at the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. administration building, 1200 Central Ave., Columbus.

Karen Maher will be the speaker. She is central regional coordinator for the Indiana Trafficking Victim Assistance Program through the Indiana Youth Services Association.

Maher will talk about what human trafficking encompasses, where and how it happens, who is targeted and how to identify victims and those at risk of becoming victims. Information about how to report suspected trafficking cases also will be provided.

The forum and lunch are free, but reservations are required. To attend, make a reservation at iyi.org/ywc or call Indiana Youth Institute statewide outreach manager Debbie Jones via email at [email protected].
