Churches planning events as part of bicentennial

As a part of Jackson County’s bicentennial celebrations, several churches will host free events in June to showcase their music, art and architecture. They invite the public to attend.

Churches scheduled for June include:

  • Immanuel Lutheran Church, 605 S. Walnut St., Seymour; 7 to 11 a.m. June 4; open house with free breakfast, large pipe organ, stained-glass windows, religious art objects and historic displays in the heritage room.
  • Trinity United Methodist Church, 333 S. Chestnut St., Seymour; 1:30 p.m. June 5; pipe organ and chimes and stained glass with many images.
  • Uniontown Baptist Church, 2623 S. U.S. 31, Uniontown; 2 p.m. June 12; very historic church.
  • St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 325 S. Chestnut St., Seymour; 4 p.m. June 26; Hinners organ installed in 1907, stained-glass windows, baptismal font, altar and statuary.
