BROWNSTOWN

Oscar “Jess” Roberts, 83, of Brownstown passed away Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.

Born Jan. 26, 1933, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Marlow R. and Mabel Christie Roberts, both of whom preceded him in death. On Nov. 6, 1953, in Seymour, he married Kathleen Mae Edwards, who preceded him in death May 3, 2013.

Oscar was a member of Brownstown Christian Church. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Eagles.

Survivors include two sons, Donald M. (Cathy) Roberts of Brownstown and Jeffery T. Roberts of Mississippi; seven grandchildren, Jessica Crum, Alicia (Kyle) McCrary, Amanda (Jaret) Terrell, Julia (Bobby) Bright, Kara Roberts, Kyle (Julie) Warren and Hope Sitterding; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by six sisters and three brothers.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Spurgeon Funeral Home Inc. in Brownstown with Brian Richards officiating.

Visitation will be from noon until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Interment will be at White River Valley Cemetery.
