Grand opening set at new Aldi store in Seymour

Aldi will open its new grocery store at 1710 E. Tipton St. in Seymour on Thursday. The new store will replace the existing Aldi store at 330 Myers St., which will officially close at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

To celebrate the opening, a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be at 8:45 a.m. Thursday.

Following the ceremony, the first 100 shoppers will receive a golden ticket, each containing Aldi gift certificates for various amounts.

There also will be free eco-friendly shopping bags distributed, a sweepstakes giveaway for free produce for a year and free product sampling during the event. Also as part of the grand opening celebration, the store will offer milk for 99 cents.

The new store is more modern and convenient, featuring spacious aisles and checkouts, high ceilings and natural lighting and was built with environmentally friendly materials, including energy-saving refrigeration, LED lighting and recycled materials, according to a news release from the company.

Store hours will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
