Virginia L. Ferrell, 95, of Seymour, and formerly of St. Albans, West Virginia, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, May 12, 2016, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.

Born Nov. 26, 1920, in Alderson, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Macie Mae Lively and J.R. Lively, both of whom preceded her in death. In 1943, she married Freelan R. Ferrell, who also preceded her in death.

Virginia graduated from Alderson High School, where she was voted “May Queen.”

Together, the couple had two children, Alan and Steve. Virginia dedicated her life to her family and to her service at St. Andrew United Methodist Church of St. Albans, where she could often be found in the kitchen cooking for various receptions, services, celebrations and Boy Scout dinners. She also was known for her skills in cake decorating. Friends and family always looked forward to her special cakes. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and gladly greeted by the Lord, our God.

Survivors include a son, Steve Ferrell of Seymour; daughters-in-law, Patty Ferrell of Seymour and Pat Ferrell of Springfield, Virginia; a grandson, Jonathan Ferrell of Cave City, Kentucky; a granddaughter, Rebecca Ferrell Thomas of Falls Church, Virginia; a grandson-in-law, Rich Thomas of Falls Church, Virginia; and great-granddaughters, Charlotte and Evie Thomas of Falls Church, Virginia.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Alan Ferrell; and a brother, Howard L. Lively.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home in St. Albans with graveside service and burial following at Cunningham Memorial Park in St. Albans.

Memorials may be made to St. Andrew United Methodist Church through Burkholder Funeral Chapel in Seymour, which handled local arrangements.
