Doris J. Spoonamore, 73, of Freetown, passed away Monday, May 9, 2016, at Schneck Medical Center.

Born Aug. 28, 1942, she was the daughter of Robert and Martha Ratliff Emberton, both of whom preceded her in death. On Feb. 26, 1960, in Edinburgh, she married Philip Spoonamore who survives.

Doris was an active member of Freetown Nazarene Church where she had served as a board member, a steward and had taught Sunday school. She enjoyed singing, cooking, planting flowers and reading her Bible. She especially loved spending time with her grandkids.

Other survivors besides her husband of 56 years, include four daughters, Cathie (Don) Miller of Freetown, Karen (Allen) Maze of Westport, Lori (Tom) Watson of Kennesaw, Georgia, and Julie (Cleatus) Hutchinson of Freetown; siblings, Janice (Jim) Gentry of Florida, Barbara (Dan) White of Bloomington, Vickie Poynter of Florida, Curtis (Julia) Emberton of Spearsville and David (Melony) Emberton of Lexington, Kentucky; grandchildren, Aaron Miller, Amber McClintock, Travis Woods, Ryan Vierling, Joanne Watson and Justin Hutchinson; great-grandchildren, Caedon McClintock, Zoey Watson and Vivian Ellis-Hutchinson; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Emberton.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Freetown Nazarene Church. Burial will follow at Freetown Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Woodlawn-Freetown Funeral Chapel and from 10 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the church.
