Letter: Prevent pollution from entering waterways

To the editor:

Spring is upon us and everyone is looking forward to fun in the sun …

April was Stormwater Awareness Month, and everyone needs to stay mindful of our everyday activities which may affect our streams and rivers and do the best they can to prevent pollution from entering our waterways.

Stormwater runoff is one of the largest contributors of water quality contamination within the United States.

One of those contributors is when pollutants are carried away during a rain event and washed into stormwater inlets. These inlets transport the stormwater and many of the pollutants such as oil, gas, grass clippings and other debris directly into our recreational waterways.

So please be a good steward of our environment and all work together in stopping this pollution from entering our water ways and contaminating our environment and world.

Our water, wild life and ecosystem will love you for it.
