Rachel E. Findley, 99, of Seymour, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2016, at Lutheran Community Home.

Born Sept. 26, 1916, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Jennie Cox Thompson. She married Kenneth Paul Findley on Oct. 12, 1935, in Seymour.

Mrs. Findley was a member of Central Christian Church in Seymour, where she was elected elder emeritus in 1998. She worked at the shoe factory and the Shields High School and Jackson School cafeterias until 1972. She was a member of Hilltop Home Economics Club and Low Vision of Seymour. She was a member of Christian Women’s Fellowship, Loyal Devoir and Friendly Crusaders Class, all of Central Christian Church. Rachel loved spending her time reading.

She is survived by her children, Dianne (Darryl) Kelly and Larry N. (Judy) Findley; eight grandchildren, Paula McDaniel, Lori Robinson, Tracey Schafstall, Shannon Kelly, Micah Magill, Matthew Findley, Barbara Phelps and Sean Hanna; 17 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Wieneke; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years; her children, K. Wayne Findley and Richard Findley; her two sisters, Ruby Guinn and Ruth Boggs; her three brothers, Ralph Thompson, Earl Thompson and Homer Thompson; and an infant brother, Louis Richard Thompson.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Voss Chapel. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.

Friends and family may gather from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Central Christian Church-Loyal Devoir or Schneck Medical Center Hospice.
