Bobby J. Cox, 62, of Medora, passed away Friday, March 18, 2016, at Schneck Medical Center.

Born April 28, 1953, in Seymour, he was the son of Edgar Ray and Sarah Ethel Wise Cox, both of whom preceded him in death. On Nov. 4, 1972, he married Patricia Weddle at the Kurtz Church of the Nazarene. She survives.

Bobby was a member of Heltonville Methodist Church and had worked the last 20 years at Valeo. He also worked as a self-employed mechanic. He enjoyed working on cars as well as fishing and riding motorcycle. He also enjoyed driving and working on his tractor, which is how he and Patti started dating. His family remembers him most as someone who liked to help people and who loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Others survivors include son, Rob Cox of Medora; daughter, Shannon (Bobby) Skaggs of Brownstown; a grandson, who was more of a son, Robert Joshua (Shayna) Cox; grandchildren, Alexandria (Darren) Burnside of Freetown, Harley (Michael) Cox of Edinburgh, and Justice Skaggs and Haven Skaggs of Brownstown; great-grandchildren, Penelope Grace and Ainslee Michelle; and siblings, Edna Akers of Seymour, Don (Audrey) Cox of Columbus, Doris (Cecil) Key of Columbus, Sandra (Gordon) Lambert of Scipio and Denise Lee of Seymour.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Charles Cox, Linda Eggersman, Nancy Collier and Sharon Smallwood.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre in Seymour. Burial will follow at Kurtz Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from noon until time of service Thursday.
