A Jackson County man faces drug-related charges after his arrest during a traffic stop early Saturday morning.

Jeremy Staats, 26, of Seymour faces initial charges of dealing in marijuana and possession of methamphetamine after the stop reported by Seymour Officer Jim Handley at 1:35 a.m. Saturday.

Handley said he stopped a sport-utility vehicle Staats was riding in for a traffic violation at Tipton Street and Holiday Square Road.

Speaking with the occupants of the vehicle, Handley said he believed the people inside the vehicle to be involved in drug activity, and he found methamphetamine, marijuana and more than $600. Those discoveries led to the arrest of Staats.

Officers Benjamin Miller and Devlin McMindes assisted.
