Bobby J. Cox, 62, of Medora passed away on Friday, March 18, 2016, at Schneck Medical Center.

Born April 28, 1953, in Seymour, he was the son of Edgar Ray and Sarah Ethel Mise Cox, both of whom preceded him in death. On Nov. 4, 1972, he married Patricia Weddle, who survives, at Kurtz Church of the Nazarene.

He was a member of Heltonville Methodist Church. He had worked the last 20 years at Valeo and had worked as a self-employed mechanic. Bobby enjoyed working on cars as well as fishing and riding motorcycle. He also enjoyed driving and working on his tractor, which is how he and Patti met. His family remembers him most as someone who liked to help people and who loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Other survivors include his son, Rob Cox of Medora; daughter, Shannon (Bobby) Skaggs of Brownstown; a grandson, who was more of a son, Robert Joshua (Shayna) Cox; grandchildren, Alexandria (Darren) Burnside of Freetown, Harley (Michael) Cox of Edinburgh, Justice Skaggs and Haven Skaggs of Brownstown; great-grandchildren, Penelope Grace and Ainsley Michelle; and siblings, Edna Akers of Seymour, Don (Audrey) Cox of Columbus, Doris (Cecil) Key of Columbus, Sandra (Gordon) Lambert of Scipio, and Denise Lee of Seymour.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Charles Cox, Linda Eggersman, Nancy Collier and Sharon Smallwood.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre in Seymour. Burial will follow at Kurtz Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from noon until time of service Thursday.
