Gertrude Lovins, 92, of Tampico passed away at 4 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2016, at Hoosier Christian Village in Brownstown.

Born Dec. 8, 1923, in Manchester, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Clester and Mary Bowling Hounchell. On Oct. 25, 1941, in Manchester, Kentucky, she married George Lovins who preceded her in death March 16, 1978.

Gertrude was a member of Tampico Christian Church, where she was active in the lady volunteers group. She was an avid quilter, enjoyed making craft projects and working in her vegetable and flower gardens. She retired from Holiday Inn and worked at the shoe factory, both in Seymour.

Survivors include four children, Madonna (Troy) Maxie of Tampico, Michael (Connie) Lovins of Brownstown, Mary (Michael) Wehrkamp of Crothersville and Morris (Linda) Lovins of Scottsburg; and a sister, Golda (Winton) Vallance of Manchester, Kentucky; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sons, Mitchell, Monroe and infant, Mickey Lovins; and a sister, Glada Clark.

The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Crothersville with Pastor Randy King officiating. Burial will be at Russell Chapel Church.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from noon until time of service Saturday.
