A traffic stop Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 65 led to the discovery of crack cocaine and marijuana and the arrest of a Jefferson County man, police report.
Trevone Deon Sneed, 19, of Hanover was arrested on charges of possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and maintaining a common nuisance after his arrest by state Trooper Randel Miller.
According to Miller’s report, Sneed’s arrest occurred after Miller stopped a motorist driving a 1988 Oldsmobile south on I-65 at the 51-mile-marker for a traffic violation.
After speaking to the people in the vehicle, Miller said he decided to deploy his K-9, Jinx, who alerted to the odor of drugs while walking around the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle resulted in an estimated 0.5 grams of crack cocaine and 60 grams of marijuana being found and seized, Miller said.
Sneed, who faces a misdemeanor charge of operating while never having received a driver’s license, was being held at the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown on Wednesday pending his initial hearing.
