Charles L. Wheeler, 68, passed away at 1:25 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at Schneck Medical Center.

Born May 10, 1947, in Jackson County, he was the son of Clarence Arthur Wheeler and Rachel Ida Trowbridge Wheeler, both of whom preceded him in death.

Charles was a member of Seymour First Baptist Church and the American Legion. He was a Vietnam veteran, discharged in 1968. He had worked in the press department for 12 years at Dorel, formerly Cosco. He was involved with prison ministries.

Survivors include two daughters, Penny Jo Moore and Shannon Deann Deaton; two brothers, Melvin (Linda) Wheeler and Herbert Wheeler; two sisters, Shirley (Louis) White and Janet (Clayton) Davidson; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Wheeler and Lawrence “Jack” Wheeler.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home in Brownstown with the Rev. Larry Tingle officiating. Burial with military rites will be at Fairview Cemetery in Brownstown.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from noon until time of service Friday.

Memorials may be made to Schneck Foundation Hospice Fund, the American Cancer Fund or Seymour First Baptist Church.
