NORTH VERNON

Jennings County Sheriff’s deputies, parole officers and Indiana State Police arrested a North Vernon man after a parolee check was conducted at a Jennings County home.

Nicholas J. Johnson, 37, North Vernon, was arrested at 7 p.m. Friday on charges of possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of paraphernalia and possession of marijuana, said Lt. Mike Mowery, Jennings County Sheriff’s Department spokesman.

Police had gone to check on Johnson at 9555 N. County Road 700W about possible drug activity at the residence, Mowery said.

Johnson consented to allowing officers to search the home, where they found about 1.7 grams of crystal methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in his bedroom, Mowery said.

Johnson was booked into the Jennings County Jail and was later released in lieu of $3,155 bond, jail officials said.
