A complaint of possible drug activity Monday on Seymour’s east side led to the arrest of three people.

Those arrested at a residence in the 800 block of East Fourth Street were Travis Paul Newton and Kayla Stout, both 21, and Jennifer Fleetwood, 39.

Newton was arrested on charges of dealing in marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, according to a news release from Seymour Police Department. He was booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown at 11:33 p.m. Monday and was released at 2:36 p.m. Tuesday after posting $1,005 bond. His initial hearing had not been set as of Wednesday morning.

Stout and Fleetwood both were initially arrested for possession of paraphernalia and possession of marijuana and issued summons to appear in court because of their cooperation during the investigation, police said.

The incident that led to the arrests began when officers Mike Payne, Benjamin Miller and Jim Handley went to the residence to investigate a report of possible drug activity.

During the investigation, police said they discovered more than 83 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and drug packaging material.
