A Lawrence County man was injured in a weather-related wreck Monday evening in far western Jackson County.

Jackson County Officer Jeff Walters reported when he arrived at the scene, he found Thomas Pemberton, 53, of Bedford outside his blue Dodge pickup in the 12000 block of West U.S. 50.

Thomas, who was conscious and alert, was treated for head and back injuries by Jackson County Emergency Medical Services personnel before being taken to Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.

Walters reported Thomas was traveling west on U.S. 50 when he lost control of his vehicle due to the icy road conditions. The vehicle left the road and flipped.

The wreck was reported at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

County Officer Rick Meyer and Reserve Officer Shane Collier assisted Walters and were joined by firefighters from Owen and Carr township volunteer fire departments and Morrison Wrecker.
