First gallery exhibit to opening at arts center

Southern Indiana Center for the Arts’ first gallery exhibit of 2016 will open Feb. 11 with an artist reception and wine tasting event from 5 to 7 p.m.

Artist Bill Bickers’ painting is inspired by the infinite shades of color from every day — the shades of blue, green, red and yellow in the grasses, flowers and trees.

The Columbus native is a graduate of Ball State University, who now lives in Jackson County with his wife.

Bickers’ paintings will be on display through March 30.

The arts center is at 2001 N. Ewing St. in Seymour, and gallery hours are from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.
