Financial aid professionals will be on hand Feb. 21 in North Vernon and Columbus to assist students who want to file for federal student aid for college for the 2016-17 school year.

As part of College Goal Sunday, volunteers will be available starting at 2 p.m. Feb. 21 at Jennings County High School, 800 W. Walnut St., North Vernon, and at Columbus Learning Center, 4555 Central Ave., to help students file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

Interested students who are younger than 24 years old may attend College Goal Sunday with their parents or guardians, who should bring completed 2015 IRS 1040 tax returns, W-2 forms and other 2015 income and benefits information. Students who were employed in the last year also should bring their tax and income information.

Families should apply for their U.S. Department of Education FSA IDs at fsaid.ed.gov before coming to College Goal Sunday.

Students who attend the event can be entered to win one of 10 $1,000 scholarships. Winners will be notified in March.

Students who are eligible for 21st Century Scholars funds must complete a FAFSA on time to receive the financial assistance.
