Jeanette Jane Oberring, 80, of Seymour got her wings and departed this earth at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016, at her home in the company of her daughter.

Born Sept. 6, 1935, in Seymour, she was the daughter of Harold Wetzel and Hazel Wetzel Straub, both of whom preceded her in death. On Sept. 6, 1952, in Seymour, she married John H. Oberring Jr., who preceded her in death May 26, 2013.

Mrs. Oberring was a graduate of Seymour High School. After graduation, Jane held several jobs before starting her career at Hook’s drugstore in Seymour, where she worked for 52 years under several different company names and retired from CVS in 2009.

Jane was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she served on many committees, the Altar Guild, Immanuel Guild, Evangelism Team, as a Lutheran Braille volunteer and also with the communion services at Lutheran Community Home. She was an avid fan of Seymour High School sports, especially the boys and girls basketball teams and the volleyball team. Jane enjoyed gardening, walking her dog and spending time with her family and friends, especially her great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Bumb; granddaughter, Jessica (Joshua) Stock; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Caleb and Carly Rose; her aunt, Hilda Hurley; a sister-in-law, Barbara Oberring; and nieces, nephews and many cousins

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Wetzel and Jerry “Chalk” Wetzel.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Burkholder Funeral Chapel and from 10 a.m until time of service Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Schneck Medical Center Hospice, the Alzheimer Association or Schneck Medical Champions of Care.
