A trucker was hurt Monday when the load of gravel he was hauling shifted, causing his semitrailer to overturn in southwestern Bartholomew County.

Clayton Wente, 24, of Seymour, was treated for minor injuries at the scene of the wreck at county roads 450S and 400W, according to the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department.

Wente was driving west on County Road 450S when he turned south on to County Road 400W, police said.

He lost control of the vehicle as the gravel shifted, causing both the truck and trailer to overturn.

County Road 400W was closed south of County Road 450S for a short time as a small amount of fluids which had leaked from the tractor was cleaned up after the wreck, reported at 2:16 p.m. Monday.

County officers Andrew Densford, Justin Arnholt and Sgt. James Stevens investigated the wreck. They were assisted by state police officers and personnel with Southwest and Columbus fire departments and Columbus Regional Health Emergency Medical Services.
