Karen Sue Kidd, 59, of Tampico, passed away at 10:26 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016.

Born Oct. 29, 1956, in Seymour, she was the daughter of Lawrence Richard and Esther Foster Engelking, both of whom preceded her in death. On Oct. 11, 1975, she married James “Jim” Kidd at First Marion Baptist Church. He survives in Tampico.

Karen was a member of Tampico Baptist Church. She retired from Kmart and was a Boy Scout leader for Troop 524 and Troop 526 in Seymour, and Troop 522 in Crothersville.

Survivors include a son, Steven M. (Aaron) Kidd of Seymour; two daughters, Kimberly Valentine (Jeff Williams) of Seymour and Cari L. Kidd (Bo Kidd) of Williamsburg, Kentucky; six brothers, Richard L. (Young) Engelking of Long Beach, California, Lawrence E. Engelking of Seymour, Mark (Starlene) Engelking of Seymour, Russell (Sheila) Engelking of Jeffersonville, Herbert (Vickie) Engelking of Seymour and James (Melinda) Engelking of North Vernon; a sister, Anita (Matt) Engleking of Seymour; and six grandchildren, Taylor Valentine, Brianna Valentine, CJ (Chad Jr.) Valentine, Jacob Woodall, Zoë Queen and Calleigh Kidd.

Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Chad Valentine.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Brownstown. Interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday.

Memorials may be given to Tampico Baptist Church or the Dementia Discovery Fund.
