Lions Club hosting Special Olympics tournament

Seymour Noon Lions Club is sponsoring its annual Jackson County Special Olympics Basketball Tournament on Saturday.

The tournament will be Seymour Middle School, 920 N. O’Brien St., and will feature 15 area teams.

There will be a special skills competition for those who are unable to play on a team. This is a time for the special athletes to have a good time and socialize with teams from around southern Indiana. Participation in this tournament qualifies teams for the state Special Olympics tournament.

The Lions Club and McDonald’s, Jay C Food Stores and Pepsi Cola Co. will donate food and drinks for the lunch, and the middle school athletics department will be operating the snack bar for family, guests and visitors.

The public is invited to come and watch. The tournament has been held for more than 30 years.
