Relay for Life team begins work for 2016 event

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Jackson County recently officially kicked off the 2016 season at MainSource Bank in Seymour with a football theme.

The theme for the 2016 relay, which will be from 6 p.m. to midnight May 20 at Seymour Middle School, is “Go! Fight! Cure!”

The event leadership team was introduced. It includes Amberly Brewer, experience lead; Julia Aker, fund the cure and marketing lead; Dr. Stephanie Burgess, people lead; Pam Bobb, mission lead; and Angel Wente, accounting and sponsorship lead. Others joining the team are Stacey Brummett, event refreshments lead; John Brummett, logistics lead; and Dee Hess, accounting assistant.

Open event leadership team positions include community champions, team ambassadors, survivors and caregivers, luminary and ACS-CAN (American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network).

Some of the goals for the event include having 300 participants on teams; adding five new teams; and raising a gross profit of $60,000 with $10,000 in sponsorships.
