Donations grow above $10,700 for Basket Fund
The annual Christmas Basket Fund grew to $10,794 on Monday with four donations totaling $450.
The new donations are:
» Anonymous, $100
» Anonymous, $50
» In memory of our parents, Jess and Florence Bobb and William and Alma Jane Simmons, $200, from Dr. Kenneth and Carol James Bobb.
» Merry Christmas, $100, from The Carpet Gallery.
Also donated recently:
» In loving memory of our parents, Alva and Ora Hackman and Homer and Lillie Nehrt, and my husband, Orville Hackman. Merry Christmas to my friends, neighbors and relatives, $100, from Carolyn Hackman.
The 2014 Christmas Basket Fund raised $11,345, which was enough money to provide 300 gift cards to needy people in the county. In 2011, a record $20,130 was donated.
Now in its 70th year, the project is sponsored by American Legion Post 89 in Seymour in partnership with Jay C Food Stores, Jackson County Bank and The Tribune.
Donations may be mailed to or dropped off at American Legion Post 89, The Tribune or any branch of Jackson County Bank.
