Robert Russell Henderson Jr., 91, of Columbus passed away Thursday, Nov. 26, 2015, at Kindred Transitional Care in Columbus.

Born July 11, 1924, in Sparksville, he was the son of Robert Russell Sr. and Lula Lucille Huffman Henderson, both of whom preceded him in death. On June 17, 1978, in Crothersville, he married Dorothy Lee Monroe, who survives.

Robert was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army Air Force. He then worked at General Motors for 31 years until retiring in 1981. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time in his garden. He also loved to spend time with his family and dogs.

Besides his wife, survivors include his children, Robert R. Henderson III of Scipio, Sandra (George) Crane of Columbus, Brian D. Henderson of Columbus and Joyce (Steve) Scallorn of Freetown; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Ross, Hattie Belle Carmichael and Jill (Dan) McDaniel, all of Seymour; and brothers, Gary (Diane) Henderson of Seymour and Lonnie Henderson of Indianapolis.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Maxine Shaffer and Beverly Sue Henderson; and brothers, John and Joe Henderson.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel in Seymour with the Rev. John Tingle officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9:30 until time of service Tuesday.

Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery with military graveside rites provided by American Legion Post 89, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, Disabled American Veterans 47 and Vietnam Veterans 7, all of Seymour.
