Seymour grad takes all-conference in volleyball

Franklin College senior libero Mackenzie Wieneke (Seymour) and senior middle blocker Kourtney Settle (Vallonia) have earned first-team honors on the 2015 All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Team.

Wieneke ranked second nationally among NCAA Division III players with 772 digs.

She led the HCAC with six digs per set for the 2015 season. The senior earned the HCAC Defensive Player of the Week award on four occasions this fall. Wieneke ranked second on the team with 31 serving aces.

Settle ranked second on the team with 330 kills and a .284 hitting percentage.

The senior led the HCAC with 116 blocks, including 49 solo blocks while contributing 28 aces on the season.

Franklin tied for third place in the HCAC with a 5-4 league record and advanced to the semifinal round of the conference’s postseason tournament for the second straight season.

With 17 victories, the team has equaled or surpassed the previous season’s win in each of the past six seasons.
