Roger Lee Martin, 72, of Columbus died at 10:43 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born April 4, 1943, in Seymour, he was the son of Russell Lee and Esther Wineinger Martin, both of whom preceded him in death. On April 26, 2002, in Nashville, he married Kristine L. Tingley, who survives.

Roger was a United States Air Force veteran and was retired from AT&T, where he was a technician. He was a member of Surprise Christian Church (Camp Illiana), Edinburgh American Legion Post 233, National Rifle Association, National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association and a lifelong member of Bell Conservation Club in Nineveh.

Roger enjoyed traditional folk and Celtic music, camping and woodworking, among many other talents, hobbies and interests.

Beside his wife, survivors include a son, Jerry Lee Martin of Franklin; a daughter, Amy LeAnn Temple of Seymour; a stepdaughter, Laura Ruehman Bachrach of Columbus; a sister, Linda (Jim) Kamman of Seymour; and two stepgrandsons, Shawn and Nick Burge, both of Columbus.

Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Martin.

A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Myers-Reed Chapel in Columbus with Larry Whitlock presiding. Military rites will be presented by the Edinburgh American Legion Post 233 color guard.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Private burial was conducted at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus.
