Paul E. Deitz, 79, of Seymour, passed away at 6:35 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015, at Schneck Medical Center.

Born Oct. 19, 1935, in Taylorsville, he was the son of Robert and Pauline Malson Deitz, both of whom preceded him in death. On Sept. 8, 1956, at Freetown, he married Geneva Ryan, who survives.

Paul traveled for Cummins Engine Co., testing and calibrating fuel systems. He worked for Cummins for 36 years. He formerly attended Spraytown Free Methodist Church and was a member of the Bassmasters Club. He loved to go fishing and watch NASCAR, having been a Mark Martin fan. He enjoyed reading and read three newspapers every day. He also spent a lot of time on the telephone talking with friends and catching up on the latest.

Besides his wife of 59 years, survivors include a daughter, Debby (George) Abel of Houston; grandson, J.P. Von Fange; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Bethany Von Fange; brother, Joe (Mary Ann) Deitz of Alamogordo, New Mexico; sister, Sondra (Fuzz) Roark of Fountain, Florida; and his beloved dog, Casey Jo, who will be tasked to look over Geneva.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gary Deitz, in January of 2000; three brothers, Robert Jr., Earl and Max; and sisters, Sharon Price and Alice Schreyer.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre in Seymour, with Pastor Jerry Van Kuiken officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.
