Bra decorating contest to boost cancer awareness

0

The Don and Dana Myers Cancer Center is sponsoring a “Bras for a Cause” decorating contest designed to allow participants to show their support for breast cancer awareness and raise money at the same time.

Contestants have until Friday to enter a bra they have decorated by dying it and/or covering it with flowers, ribbons, sequins or any other item that can be imagined.

The decorated bras will be displayed at the cancer center in Seymour.

Winners will be determined by the number of “dollar votes” received. Voting runs from Monday to Oct. 2, with the winners announced Oct. 5. The two top “dollar vote” winners will receive prize packages.

All proceeds will go to the Schneck Foundation to benefit the cancer center.

Entries by an individual or group must be original, and the outside of the bra must be decorated completely, including the straps and sides. Bras must be created in a tasteful style. Schneck reserves the right to refuse to display any bra not meeting standards. Entries will not be returned unless requested.

Pink hair also will be the norm around the cancer center during the month of October in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The community is invited to come to the center from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 1 to get pink hair extensions added to their hair for $10 each. No appointment is necessary.

Simply Chic Beauty Salon professionals will donate their time and profits from the event to the Schneck Foundation to benefit the cancer center.
