Dan W. Englehardt, 81, of Sanford, North Carolina, died Sunday, Aug. 30, 2015, at The Laurels of Chatham in Pittsboro, North Carolina.

Born Feb. 22, 1934, in North Vernon, he was the son of Charles Englehardt and Martha Wilson Englehardt.

Dan was a graduate of North Carolina State University, where he played basketball; and he served our country in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Mansfield Englehardt; sister, Monaei Perry of Raleigh, North Carolina; son, Danny Englehardt of California; daughter, Lisa Englehardt of Columbus; daughter-in-law, Ilse Englehardt of Beaufort, North Carolina; grandson, Duncan Englehardt of Beaufort; granddaughter, Joy Englehardt of Wilmington, North Carolina; nephews, Max (Karlene) Perry Jr. and Marty (Janine) Perry, all of Raleigh, North Carolina; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harold and Jonelle Mansfield of Sanford, North Carolina.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Tony Englehardt; and a brother-in-law, Max Perry Sr.

A graveside service was Sept. 3 at Shallow Well Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Donald Thompson officiating.

Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home in Sanford handled the arrangements.
