Braves slide past BNL

BEDFORD —  Brownstown Central’s Cole Brock came up with a huge three-set win at No. 2 singles to best Bedford North Lawrence 3-2 on Thursday.

Brock topped Brand Callahan 2-6, 7-6 (6), 6-0 for the final team point on the evening.

At No. 1 singles, the Braves’ Lute Lahrman defeated Logan Treanor 6-3, 6-2.

In the No. 2 doubles spot, Sy Zickler and Ethan Carlin are still undefeated after beating Pace Siedl and Corbin Bushey 7-5, 6-4.

Kent Criminger faced a tough opponent in the Star’s Bryce Gilbert, who came out on top 7-6 (6), 6-3.

The Stars’ Jarod Deckard and Ian Dillman bested Riley Carlin and Sam Hoff 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles.

Today, the Braves (10-2) will host Salem.

VOLLEYBALL

Owls top Scottsburg

SCOTTSBURG — The Seymour volleyball team put on a solid road performance defeating Scottsburg 25-13, 25-13, 25-14 on Thursday.

Jessica Blevins finished 30 of 32 hitting with eight kills while teammate Emilee Pollmann made 19 hits on 20 attempts with 11 kills for the Owls.

Serving, the Owls made 78 of 82 tries with 12 aces.

The Owls (5-6) will play at the Jeffersonville Invitational on Saturday.

Tigers lose in three

AUSTIN — The Crothersville volleyball team fell to Austin 25-15, 25-9, 25-9 on Thursday.

Katrina Christian finished with 12 hits on 13 attempts, and Abby Mains went six of seven with two kills.

As a team, the Tigers made 29 serves on 33 attempts with two aces.

The Tigers (4-4) will host Hauser on Monday.

Stars best Cougars

BEDFORD — The Trinity Lutheran volleyball team fell to Bedford North Lawrence 25-19, 20-25, 25-17, 28-26 on Thursday.

Taylor Reynolds  led the Cougars’ serving making all 22 attempts with two aces.

Hitting, the Cougars went 103 on 128 attempts with 40 kills led by Haylee Barker’s 24 hits behind 26 tries and nine kills.

The Cougars (5-5) play at Providence on Saturday.

GIRLS SOCCER

New Albany beats Owls

NEW ALBANY — Despite having 16 shots on goal, the Seymour girls soccer team couldn’t find the back of the net as they fell to New Albany 2-0 on Thursday.

The Bulldogs finished with 10 shots while Owls goalkeeper Rachell Collett collected eight saves.

The Owls (3-4-1) will host Oldenburg Academy on Saturday morning.
