Joshua Todd “Josh” Shafer, 22, of Seymour, passed away Sunday, Aug. 30, 2015, at his residence.
Born Nov. 23, 1992, in Seymour, he was the son of Cindy Sears Shafer and Matt Shafer.
Josh graduated from Seymour High School and had worked at Valeo Sylvania. He loved skateboarding and spent many hours at the skate park at Shields Park. Josh also enjoyed fishing and squirrel hunting. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a guy who always wanted to make others laugh.
Survivors include his mother, Cindy (Tony Washington) Shafer of Seymour; father, Matt (Miranda Leeson) Shafer of Columbus; brothers, Jordan Shafer and Jacob Shafer of Seymour; sister, Heather Shafer of Columbus; niece, Karcynn Shafer; grandparents, Sue Piercefield of Medora and Art and Susie Hurt of Ogilville; aunts, Catherine (Tim) Horton of Seymour and Stacy (Randy) Carmichael of Elletsville; uncles, Gary Shafer of Columbus and Billy Sears of Florida; and cousins, Lucy and Brady Horton.
Josh was preceded in death by his grandpas, Gerry Sears and Kenny Shafer.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre with Pastor Rick Wilson officiating.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until service Friday.
Burial will follow services at Friends Cemetery in Seymour. Memorials may made to Josh’s favorite place, the Schurman and Grubb Memorial Skate Park at Shields Park.
