Leland Russell Bundy Jr., 79, of Brownstown, died at 5:25 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, 2015, at his home after an illness of five years.

Born Sept. 1, 1935, in Vallonia, he was the son of Leland and Florence Jackson Bundy, both of whom preceded him in death. He lived all of his life in Jackson County. On Aug. 24, 1963, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Seymour, he married Patricia E. Speckner, who survives.

Leland was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1954-56. He was a member of Vallonia United Methodist Church and president of Bundy Brothers and Sons Milling Co. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, a 32nd degree Mason, Shriner and director of Medora State Bank. He was a graduate of Vallonia High School and then attended Eastern Kentucky. Mr. Bundy enjoyed life to its fullest, and he loved his work, traveling and spending time with his grandson, Ethan.

Other survivors include Larry L. (Lizbeth) Bundy of Freetown, and Michael J. (Beth) Bundy of Brownstown; a grandson, Ethan Michael Bundy; a sister, Virginia (Jonathon) Robertson of Brownstown; two nephews, Joe (Karen) Robertson and Jon Robertson; and a niece, Jill (Scott) Riddle.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Jonathon Robertson.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home in Vallonia with the Rev. Jack Suits officiating. Burial will take place in Vallonia Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service today.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Vallonia United Methodist Church, St. Ambrose Catholic Church or Schneck Medical Center.
