Flying Eagles slateairplane contest

Southern Indiana Flying Eagles will conduct a radio-controlled airplane contest from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at Freeman Field in Seymour.

Admission is free both days.

There will be raffle prizes available for all who purchase tickets. Drawings will be Sunday afternoon, and people do not need to be present to win.

Concessions will be for sale both days, with bleachers and picnic tables available for seating.

All of the planes entered will be replicas of full-size aircraft. These planes can vary from 60-inch to 170-inch wingspan. Some will be powered by electric motors, and some will have fuel-powered engines. There also will be jet aircraft to enjoy.

Contestants will compete for the right to enter the Masters Championships in October in Houston.

The club’s flying field is in the 1200 block of North A Avenue off the Airport Road entrance to Freeman Field.
