Rita Gene Allen, 92, of Seymour, passed away Friday, July 17, 2015, at Covered Bridge Health Campus in Seymour with her family by her side.

Born Sept. 18, 1922, in Seymour, she was the daughter of David Lawrence Amos and Mary Eva Hill Amos, both of whom preceded her in death. On July 25, 1945, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Seymour, she married Oakley M. Allen, who preceded her in death Jan. 17, 2004.

She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and the Legion of Mary and volunteered with the Schneck Medical Center Guild. She was a member of Tri Kappa, retired after 20 years from the Hoosier Parts warehouse and served as president of the Seymour Girl Scout Association in the 1950s. She participated in several bridge clubs and enjoyed gardening.

She is survived by her children, Rebecca Bevers (Roger) Brewer of Brownstown, Evanne (John) Egloff of Englewood, Florida, and Denise (Dave) Smith of Poway, California; grandchildren, Andrew Egloff, Matthew (Jennifer) Egloff, Martha Egloff, Rachel (Dr. Doug) Towriss, Sara Bevers (Sean) Hildreth and Hannah (Josh) Cash; great-grandchildren, Carolina, Andrea, Sean Egloff Vega, Grace and Evan Egloff, Joseph and Bethany Towriss, Jonas and Jude Hildreth and Skyler and Eliza Cash; and many other beloved nieces, nephews, stepgrandchildren, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Patricia A. Amos; three brothers, Eugene L. Amos, Marvin C. Amos and Richard Anthony “Tony” Amos; a sister, Mary Lou Spahr; and a son-in-law, Dr. Mark M. Bevers.

A rosary service will begin at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Voss Funeral Service in Seymour, followed by visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Visitation also will be Wednesday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church from 9 a.m. until time of Mass at 10 a.m. with Father Dan Staublin officiating. Burial will follow at the Catholic cemetery.
