Dr. Bud fundraiser attracts 156 golfers

Brandon Goecker, Brian Tormoehlen, Greg Hinton and Tom Hinton combined to score 57 and place first in the 35th annual Dr. “Bud” Graessle Golf Scramble on June 24 at Shadowood Golf Course in Seymour.

Golf chairman Warren Forgey, who also is president and chief executive officer of Schneck Medical Center, reported that 156 golfers participated in the event.

“On behalf of Schneck Medical Center and the nursing students who benefit from the Dr. Bud Scholarship, I want to thank the golfers, sponsors and all who donated their time and effort,” Forgey said. “Your support will help students pursue their careers in nursing.”

Along with the first-place team, those awarded golf prizes include Kyle Clough, Ryan Chandler, Steve Bush and Jeff Nicholson, second place, 58; Paul Radomski, Mike Wagner, Craig Rice and David Herbon, third place, 58; Jason Bukowski, Joie Bukowski, Roger Chasteen and Jami Parks, fourth place, 59; Tyler Lewis, Tim Cooley, Eddie Reynolds and Rick Smith, fifth place, 61; Craig Moore, Chad Moore, Ron Zike and Kenny Brooks, sixth place, 61; and Tim Lawson, Jay Fischer, Dr. Randall Brown and Marc Rothbart, seventh place, 61.

Clough posted the longest drive among men on the 18th hole, while Monica Hartung had the longest drive among women on the ninth hole. Also, Lisa Zike was the closest female golfer to the pin on No. 13; Rice was the closest male golfer to the pin on No. 2; and Brett Bonenberger made the longest putt on No. 5.

All proceeds from the scramble provide scholarships for registered nurse students in Jackson, Jennings, Scott and Washington counties.

Individuals awarded Dr. Bud Scholarships this year include Melissa Anderson, Yvonne Lucas, Lisa McCoy, Denise Neawedde, Tabitha Pena, Will Pumphrey, Susan Schnitker, Brooke Stanton, Virginia Stewart-Kinney and Elizabeth Tape, all at IUPUI; Hannah Burbrink and Jami VonDielingen, both at IUPUC; Jamie Baldwin, University of St. Francis; Allyson Brock, Amy Hehman, Lauren Self and Allison Warren, all at University of Indianapolis; Ariel Burton and Rhomonda Scifres, both at Ivy Tech Community College; Mia Klaes, Anderson University; and Hannah Carmichael, Jared Werskey and Brooke Werskey, all at Indiana State University.
