UMITILLA, Fla.

Wayne Allen Butler, 81, of Umitilla, Florida, formerly of Seymour, passed away May 17, 2015, at Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida.

Wayne was the son of Lavelle and Mabel Macky Butler, and he spent his early life on a farm outside Seymour. He attended Cortland school until his family moved to Florida.

Wayne served in the U. S. Marines before marrying Loretta Butler, who preceded him in death.

They raised two daughters and two sons in Ohio before Wayne returned to Florida, the state he loved dearly. Wayne had a good heart and a generous spirit, and although he had many health problems later in life, he faced them with determination and a good attitude.

Wayne is survived by his four children, including his youngest son, Charles, who lived with him and assisted him in Florida. Other survivors include a sister, Kay Oathout of Seymour, and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A few nieces, nephews and cousins from the Seymour area also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Butler, who had lived in Ohio; and two sisters, Norma Prewitt and Charmain Findley, who had lived in Seymour.

Wayne chose cremation, and his ashes will be scattered in his beloved state of Florida. There will be no services.

Arrangements were handled by A Direct Cremations in Gainesville.
