Joy Delight Kamman 85, of Seymour, passed away at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at Lutheran Community Home-Forest Path.

Born Oct. 31, 1929, in Vallonia, she was the daughter of John and Josephine Achelpohl, both of whom preceded her in death. On Sept. 11, 1948, at the Lutheran parsonage in Brownstown, Joy married William D. “Bill” Kamman. He survives. The Rev. Theodore Herrmann performed the service.

She graduated from Vallonia High School in 1947 and worked in the petroleum department of Jackson-Jennings Farm Bureau Co-op for 30 years, retiring in 1991.

Since 1956, she had been a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was active in Ladies Aid 3. She also was a member of Midway Home Economics Club. Joy and Bill loved to square dance with the Star Promenaders Square Dance Club. They also loved to travel.

Other survivors include a daughter, Barbara Potter of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a son, James W. “Jim” (Linda) Kamman of Seymour; four grandchildren, Nathan (Diane) Potter, Jennifer (Harry) Weaver, Holly (Michael) Conway and Jami (Scott) VonDielingen; and great-grandchildren, Mychal Eagleson, Jackson Lentini and Caleb, Conner and Cade VonDielingen.

Joy was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and three brothers.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ralph Blomenberg, the Rev. James Rodriguez and Vicar Daniel Merz officiating.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel and from 9 a.m. until time of service Monday at the church. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Immanuel Lutheran School, Lutheran Hour or Lutheran Community Home.
