Ronald Karl Savonen, 63, of Seymour, passed away suddenly at 10:42 am. Monday, May 4, 2015, at Schneck Medical Center.

Born June 23, 1951, in Hamilton, Ohio, he was the son of Carl Lewis and Rose Bernadine Weisser Savonen, both of whom preceded him in death.

He graduated from Seymour High School in 1969 and was employed by the Indiana Department of Transportation for more than 36 years, retiring July 31, 2006. He loved to play golf and was an avid sports fan.

Survivors include his daughter, Traci (Chad) DeBord; four grandchildren, Jordan Peters, Dylan Peters, Cameron DeBord and Colten DeBord; six brothers, Jim, Dave, Marvin and Don Bowling, and Frank and Will Clark; a sister, Lawana Cleaver; and his birth mother, Mildred Jean Clark.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ralph Blomenberg officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
