Seymour finishes strong middle school season

On Feb. 28, the Seymour Middle School wrestling team finished as the runner-up in the 18-team Highland Hills Invitational Tournament.

Individual champions in the tournament were Isaiah Pichardo, Owen Chandler and Brandon Penegar.

Finishing the tournament as individual runner-ups were Jeren Keller and Kevin Corrales.

In third place was Gabe Ramirez, and in fourth place were Boone Jorey and Ezra Barr.

Fifth-place finishers were Jesse Tankersley, Alejandro Jiminez and Jacob Kriete.

On Saturday, the Seymour Middle School wrestling team concluded its seasonwith the Tri-County Tourn-ament featuring teams from Jackson, Bartholomew and Jennings counties.

Individual champions of their eight-wrestler brackets were Pichardo, Penegar, Michael Hawkins, Keller, Jacob Rotert, Alejandro Sanchinas and Gabe Ramirez.

Finishing as individual runner-ups were Daelee Couch, Joray and Coralles.

Third-place awards went to Jacob Kriete, Colin Sons and Lester White.

Owls earning fourth place were Jesse Tankersley, Justin Ruddick, Alejandro Jimenez, Bryan Bonilla and Josue Bonilla.

The Seymour team finished the season with a 6-2 dual meet record, losing only to Jennings County and Highland Hills (Floyd Knobs) teams by two-match margins each.
