Jackson County Public Library will conduct a book discussion at 6 p.m. March 18 at the Crothersville Library, 120 E. Main St.
This month’s selection is “Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister” by Gregory Maguire. The book tells the ugly stepsisters’ side of the classic Cinderella story and turns the entire legend upside down, focusing on what it means to be beautiful.
Maguire is well-known for his twists on classic literature and interesting takes on characters such as Snow White, Cinderella and Ebenezer Scrooge, according to a news release from the library.
His hit novel “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West” spawned a series that takes readers on a journey to revisit the famous characters from “The Wizard of Oz.”
Adults are invited to attend this free discussion. Refreshments will be served. Copies of the book may be checked out at the Crothersville Library circulation desk.
