County historian presenting at center

County historian Dick Rumph will give a presentation about the history of Jackson County and its importance to the people of the county at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The public is invited to this event, which will be at the Freetown Community Center, 6785 N. Union St. Pershing Township Lions Club is sponsoring the event.

Rumph, who also is president of the Jackson County History Center, will talk about how the county’s history relates to people today and how it also connects people with each other.

Those attending will be given the opportunity to meet Jan Sipes, who portrays Julia Grant, wife of Ulysses S. Grant.

Light refreshments will be served. The club will conduct its regular meeting after the presentation.
