Norma Jean Monroe Armstrong, 87, a lifelong resident of Crothersville, passed away at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, at her home.

Born Nov. 5, 1927, in Crothersville, she was the daughter of Forest Cleo Stark and Celia Tatlock Stark. On Jan. 16, 1946, she married William Kendile Monroe, who preceded her in death Jan. 15, 1995. Then on Jan. 21, 1999, she married Haskell Dean Armstrong, who survives in Crothersville.

Norma was an employee of Cummins Engine Co., retiring in 1985 after 12 years of employment.

She was a very active member of Bethany Baptist Church, serving as song leader. Norma enjoyed picking the guitar and playing piano by ear. She also enjoyed sewing and working in her beautiful flower garden.

Besides her husband, survivors include four children, Lanny G. (Mary Lou) Monroe of Austin, Rodney L. (Kathy) Monroe of Seymour, Jeffery G. Monroe of Crothersville and Rhonda R. (Don) Monroe Money of Crothersville; 13 grandchildren, BillieFaye Kay of Avon, Lois Kirkham of North Vernon, Crystal Bowers of Salem, Bobby Albertson of Salem, Billy Albertson of Salem, Barry Monroe of Austin, Brooke Kiefer of New Albany, Justin Monroe of Seymour, Jason Monroe of Columbus, Christopher Noblitt of Scottsburg, Ashley Masters of Castleton, Nikki Money of Crothersville and Robbie Money of Crothersville; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two children, William F. Monroe on Aug. 6, 2009, and Brian S. Monroe on Aug. 1, 1963.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Crothersville. Burial will follow at Crothersville Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home.
