Warrant sweep nets 6 arrests

A Crothersville woman was one of six arrested during a warrant sweep Wednesday afternoon in Scott and Jackson counties.

Heather N. Gibson, 30, faces a Level 4 felony charge of dealing in a narcotic drug with a minor as an enhancing circumstance and a Level 5 felony charge of neglect of a dependent, according to a news release from the Indiana State Police.

Police said Gibson also faces a Level 5 felony charge of possession of a Schedule I substance after heroin was found on her at the time the warrant was served.

The warrant sweep was conducted by the state police, which included the Drug Enforcement Section and troopers from the Sellersburg and Versailles posts, and the six felony warrants were all issued out of Scott County Circuit Court, according to the news release.

Besides Gibson, police also arrested Daniel Cole, 44, of Austin, on a Level 4 felony charge of dealing in methamphetamine; Justin M. Roberts, 37, of Austin, on Class A felony charges of dealing in methamphetamine greater than three grams and dealing in a narcotic drug; Tommy A. Pennington, 59, of Austin, on two Class A felony charges of dealing in methamphetamine greater than three grams; Danny Ray Smith, 55, of Austin, on two Class A felony counts counts of dealing in methamphetamine; and Stephen W. White, 43, of Austin, on a Class B felony charge of dealing in a Schedule I, II, III controlled substance.

Police said White also was charged with three additional counts of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, all Level 6 felonies, because he was found to be in possession of oxymorphone (Opana) and oxycodone (Oxycontin) at the time of his arrest.

All six arrested were transported to the Scott County Jail in Scottsburg.

Troopers were assisted by officers from the Scott County Sheriff’s Department, Scott County Probation Department and Austin Police Department.
